In conclusion, by comparing and contrasting the musical elements of context, lyrical component, texture, structure, and other
musical devices, one can state that although the English Oratorio and Gospel music belong to entirely distinct musical cultures
(one from the Baroque period in the 18th century and the other from African American early 20th century culture), they share
various characteristics. These characteristics range from their sacred and non-liturgical aspect to their homophony and the
importance of the choir.
